Welcome!
I’m so happy that you’ve taken a moment to visit my page. My husband and I live in rural Ohio sharing our home with a relentlessly playful German Shepherd rescue named Frye, and Ted, a sleepy lap cat. I’m the proud mother of 5 adult children and have been blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren. My hobbies and interests are many including reading, long walks in nature, camping, sewing, crocheting, cooking. I love a great conversation and meeting new people. Writing has been a lifelong passion. In particular, I love creating uplifting, faith inspired reflections and meditations.
Why Sunflowers?
In April of 2022 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This began the most challenging journey of my life. Surgeries, infections, chemotherapy, with all its side effects, were overwhelming and exhausting. Through that time though, I was repeatedly inspired and uplifted by the joyful image of sunflowers. I noticed them everywhere and received them as encouraging symbols of positivity and hope. Just before beginning chemo, I received a little magnet with this quote from Helen Keller: “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows.” I adopted these words as my personal mantra repeating them often as I went through treatment. I leaned heavily on my faith and took the words as a reminder to keep my face turned upwards towards a loving God who was always present, compassionately providing for me.
Breast cancer is behind me now, I’m regaining my energy, have been able to return to work on a modified schedule, and to most of activities and creative pursuits that I previously enjoyed.
Since emerging for the cancer journey, I’ve felt compelled to share a little of my experience, faith, hope, and the joy of being alive through this platform. My deep hope is that you, dear reader, will find hope and encouragement in the words I share.
I wish you joy & would love to hear from you!
Sandra
